CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee’s Old Glory Distilling Co.is planning a 20,000-square-foot expansion that will double the size of its headquarters near Interstate 24 in Clarksville, The Leaf Chronicle reported.
Owner Matt Cunningham said they are going to build a big barrel warehouse.
“We’re simply needing to make more whiskey, and we’re needing a place to store it,” he said.
The city building permit values the expansion at close to $2 million. Construction should launch in the coming week.
Bourbon is one of Old Glory’s flagship spirits, but later this year, it will add Tennessee whiskey to its inventory for the first time. The new barrel house will be dedicated to bourbon and Tennessee whiskey production. Cunningham said construction should be completed by the first quarter of 2022.
Besides the distillery gift shop, the Cunninghams are distributing to stores in Nashville and Memphis, with plans of going statewide by the end of this year.
The distillery also hosts daily tastings and tours. Before the pandemic, upwards of 300 people would visit the distillery on Saturdays. One year later, the crowds are returning.
“We’re already seeing things loosening up a bit with COVID, and we’re seeing evidence of more people starting to travel again,” Cunningham said. “One of our ultimate goals was to make this a place for Clarksville to be proud of.”
