Former Cooper advisor Alicia Davis joins The Southern Group

TSG Managing Partner Rachel Cone: Alicia is a standout in North Carolina’s government affairs landscape.

RALEIGH — Powerhouse lobbying firm The Southern Group has announced the addition of Alicia Davis to its North Carolina branch.

“Alicia is a standout in North Carolina’s government affairs landscape,” said Rachel Cone, Strategic Managing Partner of Growth at The Southern Group (TSG) in a press release. “Her expertise will be a major asset to our clients as we continue to advocate for effective solutions in a dynamic political environment.”

Before joining TSG, Davis served as legislative director in Governor Roy Cooper’s office, where she managed the passage of the state’s Medicaid expansion legislation through bipartisan negotiations.

“Alicia’s legislative experience and infectious energy adds an incredible dimension to wherever she goes, ” said Pryor Gibson, Coopers former senior legislative advisor.

Davis holds a Political Science degree from North Carolina State University and a J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law. She began her career as a North Carolina House Page and General Assembly intern.

“I’m thrilled to join The Southern Group of North Carolina, a firm that shares my commitment to integrity and results-driven public service,” Davis said. “I’m eager to work alongside this talented team to craft strategic solutions, and create lasting, impactful outcomes for our clients, while also utilizing my legal foundation and extensive government experience.”

Prior to her role in the Governor’s office, Davis worked as Legislative Liaison for both the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State and Department of Public Safety. Her achievements included passing remote online notarization legislation and the Tarheel Challenge statute.

TSG has operated for 25 years and is the largest lobbying firm in Florida. TSG has grown, opening offices across the southeastern United States in Alabama, George, South Carolina, and expanded in 2024 with an office in North Carolina headed up by Kevin Wilkinson.

Davis is the most recent high-profile TSG hire, joining former General Assembly House member Jason Saine. TSG announced Saine’s hire in late 2024.
