GREENSBORO — Over the three-day weekend at the North Carolina Republican Party convention in Greensboro, several candidates used the opportunity to say they were running in the upcoming 2024 primaries.

Two new judicial candidates for the N.C. Court of Appeals made the rounds with delegates: Rockingham County District Court Judge Chris Freeman and Robeson County attorney Jessica Locklear.

Races for the Council of State saw two candidates from Wake County, Darren Eustance and Charles Dingee, pitching those in attendance. Both are longtime Wake County Republican activists now trying their hand at running themselves for office.

A former two-time candidate for the N.C. House of Representatives in Wake County, Fred Van Canon is now trying his hand at running for Congress. He held a barbecue reception at the convention announcing he was running in the 1st District against Democratic Rep. Don Davis.
