Republican Ted Budd retains NC 13th US Congressional District seat

RALEIGH — Republican incumbent Rep. Ted Budd has won reelection in the Piedmont Triad’s 13th U.S. Congressional District race against Democratic challenger Scott Huffman.

At the time The Associated Press called the race for Budd, he had nearly 68% of the vote and a nearly two-to-one ballot lead.

Budd is a businessman and shooting-sports store owner from Davie County who first won the seat in 2016. Huffman is a business owner and Navy veteran originally from Spencer.

The N.C. State Board of Elections (NCSBE) will continue to accept absentee ballots through Nov. 12.  Due to the extended deadline for those ballots, results reported on election night may change.
