NC’s 5th US Congressional District race goes to incumbent Republican Virginia Foxx

RALEIGH— Republican incumbent Rep. Virginia Foxx has won North Carolina’s 5th U.S. Congressional District race, defeating Democratic challenger David Wilson Brown.

With 207 of 215 precincts in the district reporting, Foxx came away with a wide margin of nearly 67%.

Foxx was first elected to Congress in 2004 and has subsequently been reelected to her seat by substantial margins since. She is currently the ranking member of the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

The N.C. State Board of Elections (NCSBE) will continue to accept absentee ballots through Nov. 12.  Due to the extended deadline for those ballots, results reported on election night may change.
