NC State might have finished behind Clemson in the Atlantic Division football standings, but the Wolfpack came out ahead of the undefeated Tigers when it comes to the All-ACC first team.
Coach Dave Doeren’s team placed six players on the honor squad, which was announced Monday, while Clemson had only five selections — although the nation’s second-ranked team did have a league-high 18 players named to all three all-conference teams.
State’s first-team picks were quarterback Ryan Finley, wide receivers Kelvin harmon and Jakobi Meyers, offensive tackle Tyler Jones, center Garrett Bradbury and linebacker Germaine Pratt.
Wake Forest’s Greg Dortch was picked to the first team at two positions, wide receiver and return specialist while Duke’s Joe Giles-Harris earned recognition as a first-team linebacker.
The only North Carolina player to gain All-ACC honors was second team linebacker Cole Holcomb.
Other in-state players named to the second team were State kicker Christopher Dunn, Wake Forest offensive guard Phil Haynes, cornerback Essang Bassey and safety Cameron Glenn and Duke running back Deon Jackson.
Third team honorees were Wolfpack running back Reggie Gallaspy and the Duke duo of wide receiver T.J. Rahming and tight end Daniel Helm.
