Wake Forest’s impressive 42-32 win over Louisville earned the Demon Deacons three ACC Player of the Week awards.

Quarterback John Wolford tied a school record with five touchdown passes and added 461 yards passing to earn the ACC Offensive Back of the Week. It’s the first time a Wake back has won that award since Tanner Price earned it on Sept. 10, 2012. Wolford’s honor breaks the third-longest current drought in ACC Weekly Award voting. Wake hasn’t won an Offensive Lineman award since 2007, and Virginia hasn’t had a rookie of the week since 2011.

Greg Dortch — who will miss the rest of the season — set a school record with four touchdown catches in the win. That earned him the ACC Receiver of the Week and ACC Rookie of the Week.

The award windfall for Wake continued a pattern for Louisville this season. The Cardinals have had teams win 13 ACC weekly awards against them this year. The most any team was victimized all last year was 10.

The Tar Heels have also been a frequent victim of ACC Player of the Week performances. This week was no exception. Miami’s R.J. McIntosh had a team-high 11 tackles in the Hurricanes’ 24-19 win at Carolina to win ACC Linebacker of the Week. It’s the 11th ACC weekly award earned against the Heels this season.

Duke’s 24-3 loss at Virginia Tech also produced an award winner. Hokies safety Terrell Edmunds had eight tackles and an interception to win Defensive Back of the Week.

Other award winners were Pitt’s Quadree Henderson, whose 75-yard punt return touchdown against Virginia earned him Specialist of the Week, Boston College’s Ty Schwab, who won Linebacker of the Week with 12 tackles, 2.5 TFL and an interception against Florida State, and Mitch Hyatt, who had five pancakes against Georgia Tech to win Offensive Lineman of the Week.
