North Carolina guard Tommy Hatton, filling in for injured starter Caleb Peterson, has been honored twice for his play in the Tar Heels’ 35-14 win at Virginia on Saturday. Hatton, a redshirt freshman making only his third career start, was named the ACC’s Offensive Lineman of the Week and co-Rookie of the Week after grading out at 90 percent and not allowing either a sack or hit on quarterback Mitch Truibsky during the game. Hatton led an offensive line that helped Elijah Hood rush for a 107 yards on 16 carries while backup T.J. Logan also averaged better than six yards per carry as part of an attack that rolled up 488 yards of total offense. “The offensive line protected me very well all game, especially in the second half, giving me time,” Trubisky said afterward. “And we made plays when we needed to make plays.”
