Four-term Republican incumbent Rep. John Szoka has defeated Democratic challenger Frances Vinell Jackson in Cumberland County’s N.C. House District 45 race.
Szoka held on to win with a 51% to 49% margin. The vote totals were 20,113 votes for Szoka to 19,350 for Jackson.
Szoka is in House leadership and works in the mortgage industry. Jackson has held many positions in local and state government, including a seat on Cumberland’s Planning Board, ABC Board and Zoning Commission.
