Burr, founder of Burr Capitol Consulting, joins Southern Group as a partner

RALEIGH — The Southern Group, the largest government relations consulting group in the southeast, will be adding Burr Capitol Consulting’s founder Jarret Burr as a new partner in its Raleigh office location.

“Jarret and I have been friends since college, and he played a meaningful role in helping launch my career in politics,” said Kevin Wilkinson, director of The Southern Group North Carolina. “I have seen firsthand his work ethic, strategic instincts, and ability to deliver results at the highest levels of state government.”

“Bringing our experience and relationships together under one roof creates a powerful advantage for our clients across North Carolina,” added Wilkinson.

A native of Stanly County, Burr will bring to the table his “extensive experience in appropriations strategy, executive branch engagement, and complex legislative negotiations,” according to the Southern Group’s press release.

The release says Burr will be involved in state government relations that includes clients like the North Carolina Troopers Association and the North Carolina Bail Agents Association.

Burr previously served as assistant legislative director for the N.C. Department of Public Safety under former Gov. Pat McCrory. His duties as McCrory’s primary liaison with the General Assembly included dealing with the state budget.

Statehouse Sen. Danny Britt (R-Robeson) offered his endorsement of Burr’s addition.

“Jarret Burr has earned the trust and respect of leaders throughout North Carolina state government,” said Britt. “His experience navigating public safety and insurance issues at the highest levels of state government, combined with his understanding of how policy moves in Raleigh, makes him an outstanding addition to The Southern Group.”

Burr, now living in Raleigh, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Political Science from UNC Charlotte.
