The numbers may have looked good at first glance, but Joe Biden’s supposed “job boom” was nothing more than an illusion.
As the cost of living soared and businesses fought to stay afloat, the Biden administration used its power to grow the federal workforce and called it economic growth. But adding to the ranks of bureaucrats in Washington isn’t the same as creating opportunities for everyday Americans.
Under Biden, government growth was hurting the private sector, driving inflation and leaving American families with less buying power. President Donald Trump understands that real growth doesn’t come through propping up Washington but through empowering workers and revitalizing American industries.
According to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, “The private sector has been in recession. … Our goal is to reprivatize the economy.” That’s exactly what Trump is doing; he’s reversing Biden’s damage and rebuilding an economy that puts American workers first.
Biden may have spent the last four years bragging about job growth, but in reality, it was nothing more than a government hiring spree funded by his administration’s reckless spending. While American families were struggling to afford groceries and gas, Biden padded the federal bureaucracy with thousands of taxpayer-funded jobs.
In 2023 alone, Biden added 709,000 new government jobs, which was more than double the number he added in 2022. State government employment grew at its fastest rate since 1968, and the federal workforce swelled by nearly 6% under his watch.
That’s not economic growth, that’s a taxpayer-funded power grab.
According to The Heritage Foundation, nearly 1 in 4 jobs Biden claimed to have created never even existed, and Biden’s supposed “job growth” was grossly overestimated by nearly 800,000.
This was not prosperity — it was a taxpayer-funded crisis created by Biden. He failed to build an economy ― instead, he built a bigger government and stuck American workers with the bill.
Trump is once again delivering on real job growth in the private sector where it benefits everyday Americans and families across the country.
In March, the economy added 228,000 jobs, delivering one of the strongest months in years. April’s numbers also beat economists’ expectations. Under Trump’s leadership, hundreds of thousands of jobs have been added. Even better, they’re creating surges in retail, transportation and warehousing. Across the country, wages are rising, confidence is returning, and the private sector is coming back to life.
Labor force participation grew, and the federal government cut jobs for the third straight month.
Trump is keeping his promise to slash waste from the federal bureaucracy.
Investments from companies are coming to North Carolina thanks to Trump’s administration. Even better, it’s not just a select few areas reaping the benefits. In Wilson, Johnson & Johnson is investing $2 billion to bring manufacturing and construction jobs to eastern North Carolina.
Our president understands government doesn’t create prosperity; hard-working Americans do.
He’s bringing jobs home and proving that real growth comes from empowering workers and businesses, not inflating Washington.
