CARY — Since its founding nearly 40 years ago, Raleigh-based property management company Lundy Management Group has built a reputation as a respected local institution, sought after by top-tier medical facilities such as Duke Health and UNC. As president, Jamie Baker of Raleigh has led the company through an expansion in the commercial business landscape in North Carolina and beyond.
Moss Withers, also of Raleigh and childhood friend of Baker, worked for 10 years at commercial real estate leader NAI Carolantic. Following his tenure, Moss opened a Raleigh office for Los Angeles-based Lee & Associates, North America’s largest broker-owned commercial real estate firm.
The two property management leaders recently announced a merger that will offer a combined team of 50 professionals, becoming the most prevalent locally owned property and facility management company in the Triangle.
“Jamie had the depth that we need with his strong focus on medical and professional office properties,” Withers said. “But what we had was a diversity of products in the industrial and retail space. Now we’re able to integrate our width with his depth to become what is one of the top three or four companies in this market.”
With its expansion, the new enterprise plans to continue its identity as a North Carolina company and local resource.
“When you have folks from outside the market looking at it like it’s just another number,” said Baker,” it’s a totally different experience. … (It’s) a huge differentiator for us to be able to compete with the big guys but have local roots that aren’t going anywhere. Moss and I both have young kids; we’re in this community, and we’re here for the long haul.”
The new company, which will operate under the Lee & Associates brand, is headquartered in downtown Cary at 216 E. Chatham Street. Lundy will continue operating its branded division, maintaining its expertise in medical facilities management, a growing commercial business, with plans to expand statewide and beyond.
