RALEIGH — North Carolina’s Democratic Governor-elect Josh Stein announced the names of his top transition staff last week.

“I am honored that these talented folks have agreed to lead our transition team,” said Stein. “We have the opportunity to make a real difference in North Carolina, and I am looking forward to working closely with them to hire hard-working, public-spirited people who will move our state forward.”

The names include Seth Dearmin, Stein’s Department of Justice chief of staff; Kristi Jones, Gov. Roy Cooper’s former chief of staff; Former state Sen. Richard Stevens; Bright Hope Capital partner Malcomb Coley; and Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer.

Additionally, Christie McNeill will serve as executive director for Stein’s transition.

Stein is recruiting individuals to join his administration at stein2024transition.org/join-the-team.

Those applying to the website will likely be vetted by dozens of transition team members Stein has already apparently recruited which span 18 different areas of North Carolina government.

The list of these individuals was received by North State Journal and confirmed as accurate by one person on the list. The names include former mayors, legislators, sheriffs, current and former elected officials, as well as various past and current Cooper appointees. The majority on the list are Democrats but there are some Republicans included.
