"I am honored and humbled to have earned the trust of the voters of House District 25"

Rep. Allen Chesser

RALEIGH — After a recount, Rep. Allen Chesser (R-Nash) has emerged as the winner of the House District 25 race.

According to the N.C. State Board of Elections results dashboard, Chesser ended up with 23,869 votes compared to Democratic challenger Lorenza M. Wilkins’ 23,408 votes. Libertarian candidate Nick Taylor received 1,631 votes.

“I am honored and humbled to have earned the trust of the voters of House District 25,” Chesser said in a statement on X. “This election was a testament to the power of each and every vote, and I am committed to continue representing our community with integrity and determination. I want to thank the Nash County Board of Elections for their professionalism and diligence throughout the recount process. Their hard work ensures our democratic system remains fair, transparent and trustworthy.”

Chesser thanked his supporters and told those who supported his opponent that he pledges “to represent all voices in House District 25.”

Wilkins originally had conceded the race on Nov. 5 but then later asked for a recount.

Chesser’s race is one of five legislative races where a recount was requested.
