RALEIGH — At the onset of March, the Biden administration’s Administration for Children and Families Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) under the Department of Health and Human Services said a facility in Greensboro to house minor migrant children was operational but would not immediately have children housed there.
Residents in the area, however, have reported “flurries” of activity at the facility that took place in 2023, including multiple charter buses coming and going from the Greensboro Influx Care Facility (ICF).
The location of the ICF is on 4334 Hobbs Rd. and is the former campus of the American Hebrew Academy.
One resident, who asked not to be identified, supplied North State Journal with pictures of CharterUP buses with blacked-out windows heading to the ICF through “a side gate on Jefferson Road” and not through the main gatehouse on Hobbs.
According to the resident, the same buses had been seen departing from a nearby area where multiple hotels and motels are located. The resident also said that cars entering the facility would often drive their vehicles in reverse when entering the front gate.
North State Journal reached out multiple times to CharterUP to confirm whether or not the company had been used in 2023 or if the company was still currently serving the ICF but received no response.
