GREENVILLE — Bobby Pettiford’s 24 points helped East Carolina defeat UNC Wilmington 74-66 on Thursday night.
Pettiford shot 8 for 13 (3 for 5 from 3-point range) and 5 of 6 from the free throw line for the Pirates (5-3). Brandon Johnson added 18 points and also had 11 rebounds. Kalib LaCount finished with 11 points.
Shykeim Phillips finished with 20 points for the Seahawks (5-2). Trazarien White added 14 points and 11 rebounds for UNC Wilmington. Maleeck Harden-Hayes also put up 13 points.
East Carolina’s next game is Monday against Maryland-Eastern Shore at home. UNC Wilmington visits Kentucky on Saturday.
Elon 127, Warren Wilson 56
ELON — Deandre Smart had 14 points in Elon’s 127-56 victory over Warren Wilson on Thursday night.
Smart shot 4 of 4 from the field and 6 for 7 from the line for the Phoenix (5-3). LA Pratt scored 13 points and added five rebounds with three steals. Nick Dorn finished with 13 points.
Yoshi Kendrick led the Owls in scoring, finishing with 13 points. Marcus Andrews added seven points for Warren Wilson. Antonio Banuelos also had six points.
Elon visits Radford in its next matchup on Sunday.
