ELON — Max Mackinnon had 17 points in Elon’s 79-76 win over East Tennessee State on Thursday night.
Mackinnon also added seven rebounds for the Phoenix (1-1). LA Pratt was 5-of-8 shooting (4 for 6 from 3-point range) to add 14 points. Deandre Smart finished with 11 points.
The Buccaneers (1-1) were led in scoring by Quimari Peterson, who finished with 31 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jaden Seymour added 21 points and seven rebounds for East Tennessee State. In addition, Ebby Asamoah had nine points and six rebounds.
Elon plays North Dakota on the road on Sunday.
North Carolina Central 107, Virginia-Lynchburg 54
DURHAM — Po’Boigh King 26 points and Ja’Darius Harris added 20 as North Carolina Central steamrolled Virginia-Lynchburg 107-54 on Thursday.
Josh Smith added nine points and seven rebounds, and Timmy Adedire just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles (1-1), who opened their season with a 43-point loss to No. 1 Kansas.
Zachary Dunn had six points and seven rebounds for the Dragons (0-3).
NC Central faces another Power Five opponent Sunday when they travel to face Georgia, while the Dragons next play Nov. 18 when they visit UNC Asheville.
