Duke hits road for first time this season

Duke takes its 3-0 record on the road for the first time this season when the Blue Devils take on UConn in their third nonconference game of the season. The Blue Devils have won by an average of 27 points so far this season, posting wins over Clemson, Lafayette and Northwestern. The Huskies, who were a surprise bowl team in their first year under coach Jim Mora last season, are off to an 0-3 start this year with losses to NC State, Georgia State and FIU. The Huskies have not finished with a winning record since 2010.

Players to Watch

Duke cornerback Myles Jones: The defensive back from Magnolia, Texas, has made a splash since arriving as a graduate transfer from Texas A&M. Jones has interceptions in back-to-back games, producing half the team’s total so far this season. He also has two passes defended, six tackles, three solo stops and half a tackle for loss. According to Pro Football Focus data, Jones leads all college cornerbacks with a grade of 89.3. He also leads the country with an 89.7 coverage grade.

UConn quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson: The junior made his first start of the season last weekend against FIU. He took over as QB1 midgame the previous week when starter Joe Fagnano suffered a season-ending injury. Roberson went 19 of 30 for 216 yards and two touchdowns in finishing that game, then went 15 for 32 for 170 yards and a score last week.
