RALEIGH — The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is aiming to win at least three congressional seats in North Carolina in the 2024 election cycle.

A list of 37 targets nationwide includes 3 in the Tar Heel State, the districts currently held by freshman Democrats Don Davis (NC-01), Wiley Nickel (NC-13) and Jeff Jackson (NC-14).

“Republicans are in the majority and on offense. We will grow our House majority by building strong campaigns around talented recruits in these districts who can communicate the dangers of Democrats’ extreme agenda,” said NRCC Chairman and six-term U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson (NC-09). “These House Democrats should be shaking in their boots.”

The NRCC sees the seats as pickup opportunities even as the district lines are likely to change if favorable rulings in redistricting cases in both the N.C. and U.S. Supreme Court come this spring.

Davis, Nickel and Jackson have each sought to boost their profiles in the opening two months of the congressional term.

Davis has backed several bills with the House Republican majority, including disapproving the of the Washington, D.C. crime code reform and joining Republicans on an agriculture bill favored by farmers. Nickel has prioritized constituent outreach, hosting a pair of town halls in Apex and Clayton. Jackson has parlayed his predilection for social media into becoming a “TikTok” star with numerous viral videos on the Chinese-controlled app.
