College Basketball Roundup: Jackson’s 47 leads Western Carolina past Wofford

Campbell and North Carolina A&T both got wins against in-state foes

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Tre Jackson scored 47 points and Western Carolina beat Wofford 95-91 in double overtime on Wednesday night.

Jackson was 14-of-21 shooting, including 8 for 15 from distance, and went 11 for 11 from the line for the Catamounts (14-12, 7-6 Southern Conference). Vonterius Woolbright scored 30 points and added 13 rebounds. Russell Jones finished with 11 points.

B.J. Mack finished with 22 points, nine rebounds and two blocks for the Terriers (13-13, 5-8). Jackson Paveletzke added 17 points for Wofford. Corey Tripp also had 16 points.

Campbell 82, High Point 66

BUIES CREEK — Anthony Dell’Orso scored 26 points as Campbell beat High Point 82-66 on Wednesday night.

Dell’Orso also added 10 rebounds for the Fighting Camels (11-14, 6-7 Big South Conference). Jay Pal scored 14 points and Ricky Clemons finished with 12.

Bryson Childress led the Panthers (11-14, 3-10) in scoring, finishing with 20 points. High Point also got 12 points, two steals and two blocks from Zach Austin. Jaden House also had 12 points.

North Carolina A&T 66, Elon 61

GREENSBORO — Marcus Watson and Love Bettis each scored 20 points as North Carolina A&T beat Elon 66-61 on Wednesday night.

Watson added seven rebounds for the Aggies (12-14, 7-6 Colonial Athletic Association). Kam Woods contributed 10 points.

Torrence Watson finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Phoenix (5-20, 3-9). Elon also got 12 points and four assists from Sean Halloran. In addition, Max Mackinnon finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.

UNC Asheville 86, Winthrop 79

ASHEVILLE — Drew Pember scored 23 points as UNC Asheville beat Winthrop 86-79 on Wednesday night.

Pember also added eight rebounds for the Bulldogs (19-7, 11-2 Big South Conference). Tajion Jones added 15 points, and Nick McMullen and Alex Caldwell each scored 12.

The Eagles (11-15, 6-7) were led by Sin’Cere McMahon, who recorded 35 points and four assists. Kelton Talford added 20 points and 10 rebounds for Winthrop. In addition, Toneari Lane had 15 points.

Charleston 93, UNC Wilmington 61

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Ante Brzovic’s 23 points helped Charleston defeat UNC Wilmington 93-61 on Wednesday night.

Brzovic added seven rebounds and three steals for the Cougars (23-3, 11-2 Colonial Athletic Association). Ben Burnham scored 18 points while shooting 6 for 9 (2 for 3 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Pat Robinson III shot 5 of 8 from the field and 8 for 9 from the line to finish with 18 points.

Jamarii Thomas led the way for the Seahawks (19-7, 9-4) with nine points and two steals. UNC Wilmington also got eight points and three steals from Shykeim Phillips. In addition, Nolan Hodge finished with eight points.
