Bradford Preparatory School is located in Charlotte.

Gay was formally seated on the CSAB on Jan. 9.
In 1980, Gay started teaching at Hickory High School before becoming the first principal of American Renaissance Middle School in Statesville.
According to Robinson’s press release, Gay oversaw the first merger of two charter schools in North Carolina history and would become the Superintendent of American Renaissance School. Following his work at American Renaissance, Gay went on to serve as the Superintendent of East Wake Academy in Zebulon.
Gay obtained a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Mathematics from N.C. State and received a master’s degree from Appalachian State University in School Administration. Additionally, he served on the state’s textbook commission and has been named as the Wachovia Principal of the Year.
