UNCA and WCU both picked up conference wins

AMHERST, Mass. — Zach Austin scored 19 points as High Point beat Winthrop 71-66 on Wednesday night.

Austin had five rebounds and six blocks for the Panthers (10-9, 2-5 Big South Conference). Bryson Childress scored 13 points, and Bryant Randleman recorded 12 points.

The Eagles (8-12, 3-4) were led in scoring by Kelton Talford, who finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Kasen Harrison added 16 points, five assists and three steals for Winthrop. In addition, Sin’Cere McMahon had 12 points and four assists.

UNC Asheville 73, Charleston Southern 63

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Drew Pember had 20 points and UNC Asheville beat Charleston Southern 73-63 on Wednesday night.

Pember added eight rebounds and five assists for the Bulldogs (14-6, 6-1 Big South Conference). Tajion Jones scored 17 points, and Caleb Burgess recorded 14 points.

The Buccaneers (7-11, 3-4) were led by Tahlik Chavez, who posted 22 points and two steals. Claudell Harris Jr. added nine points for Charleston Southern. Kalib Clinton also put up nine points and three steals.

Western Carolina 76, Wofford 71

CULLOWHEE — Vonterius Woolbright scored 20 points as Western Carolina beat Wofford 76-71 on Wednesday night.

Woolbright added seven rebounds and five assists for the Catamounts (11-9, 4-3 Southern Conference). Tre Jackson had 17 points, and Tyzhaun Claude finished with 16 points.

The Terriers (11-9, 3-4) were led by Corey Tripp, who recorded 19 points. Jackson Sivills added 13 points and seven rebounds for Wofford. Messiah Jones also had 10 points, two steals and two blocks.

Longwood 64, Gardner-Webb 59

FARMVILLE, Va. — Walyn Napper scored 17 points as Longwood beat Gardner-Webb 64-59 on Wednesday night.

Jesper Granlund added 10 points for the Lancers (14-6, 6-1 Big South Conference). D’Avian finished with nine points, while adding three steals.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs (8-11, 3-4) were led by Julien Soumaoro, who recorded 18 points and two steals. Caleb Robinson added 10 points for Gardner-Webb. Ludovic Dufeal also recorded seven points.

Temple 73, East Carolina 58

PHILADELPHIA — Damian Dunn scored 22 points off of the bench to help Temple to a 73-58 victory against East Carolina on Wednesday night.

Dunn added five rebounds for the Owls (11-9, 5-2 American Athletic Conference). Khalif Battle scored 20 points and added seven rebounds. Jahlil White finished 4 of 7 from the field to finish with eight points.

The Pirates (10-10, 1-6) were led by Quentin Diboundje, who posted 14 points. RJ Felton added 11 points, six rebounds and two steals for East Carolina. In addition, Benjamin Bayela had eight points.

Radford 63, Campbell 55

BUIES CREEK — Justin Archer had 15 points in Radford’s 63-55 victory against Campbell on Wednesday night.

Archer also added 12 rebounds for the Highlanders (11-9, 5-2 Big South Conference). Onyebuchi Ezeakudo had 11 points, and Madiaw Niang finished with 10.

The Fighting Camels (7-12, 2-5) were led by Anthony Dell’Orso, who recorded 18 points and six rebounds. Devon Dunn also scored 18 points for Campbell. Ricky Clemons put up 10 points and five assists.
