President Joe Biden is expected to nominate Kentanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court, according to multiple news reports.

A U.S. Circuit Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, she was one of the first federal judges confirmed in Biden’s first year in office.

Biden said during his campaign for president he would nominate a black woman should a vacancy arise.

The news was confirmed by a person familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss it before the president’s official announcement later Friday, the Associated Press reported.

She would also be only the sixth woman to serve on the court, and her confirmation would mean that for the first time four women would sit together on the nine-member court.
