WHATLEY: One year out from a Red Wave

NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley

This week, we are one year out from the 2022 Midterm Elections and Republicans in North Carolina have reason to be optimistic.

From the moment polls closed in North Carolina on November 3rd, 2020, the North Carolina Republican Party (NCGOP) and the Republican National Committee (RNC) have been hard at work making sure we’re prepared for victories up and down the ballot come 2022. As we travel the state meeting with voters and candidates, the enthusiasm is electric. North Carolinians are ready to redress the Biden administration’s numerous failures by voting for commonsense conservatives at the ballot box.

The first step to winning Republican majorities in the House of Representatives and Senate is ensuring the sanctity of North Carolinians’ ballots. On every front, Democrats are trying to change the rules to undermine election integrity and consolidate control over state and local elections in Washington, DC. Thankfully, North Carolinians aren’t falling for these Democrat games, and neither are we. Since my first week as Chairman of the NCGOP, we’ve been working overtime to make sure your vote is secure. That’s why when COVID-19 caught many states flat-footed in the 2020 election cycle, North Carolina was prepared. We have recruited, trained and deployed more than 500 attorneys and thousands of volunteers across the state in election day operations.  We’ve worked closely with the RNC and our State Legislators to stop brazen attempts by the North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) to eliminate vital ballot protections.

We have also created our very own Election Integrity Committee, which strives to restore faith in our election system and make sure every legitimate vote counts. We’re working with county and state boards of elections, recruiting poll observers and election integrity volunteers, making statutory and administrative rule recommendations, holding election integrity workshops, and refining the NCGOP’s Election Integrity Operational Plan. It takes each and every one of us to make sure that we have free and fair elections, and I would implore you to visitwww.protectthevote.com to join our Ballot Protection Team.

Republicans have a clear advantage with voters when it comes to our positions on Education, the Economy, National Security and Protecting the Border – and we need to get our message out. The path to victory runs through person-to-person conversations. Every time a volunteer has a conversation with an undecided voter, that voter is more likely to get out and vote. That’s why we’re working overtime to mobilize voters through our extensive ground game efforts. The NCGOP and RNC have built a winning infrastructure designed to recruit and train volunteers to spread the Republican message. Already this year, we’ve held over 200 training sessions and recruited over 2,000 volunteers in North Carolina, and we’re just getting started.

The contrast between the Biden/Pelosi/Schumer Agenda and the Republican Agenda could not be clearer when it comes to the issues North Carolinians care about most. Biden has simultaneously created a labor shortage and rising unemployment embarrassed America on the global stage with his botched Afghanistan withdrawal, invited chaos along our southern border, driven up gasoline prices and continues to propose policies costing trillions of dollars which will only further prolong skyrocketing inflation amidst a supply chain crisis. The costs are hardly zero, and the Biden Administration has no plan to fix any of the crises of their own making. Republicans offer a different path forward. We are the party of freedom. We want to empower parents to make the best decisions for their own children, lift burdensome regulations from small businesses still recovering from the pandemic, secure our borders, ensure American energy independence, and, most of all, we want the federal government to get out of the way so we can pursue the American dream. It is imperative that Republicans win up and down the ballot because the path voters in North Carolina and around the nation take in the pivotal 2022 elections will determine so much of our future as Americans.

As we pursue a future we can be proud of, and look ahead to November of 2022, just remember that it is the work we put in before election day that will make all the difference.
