App State and NC Central earned wins; Charlotte lost to Drexel

WINSTON-SALEM — Jake LaRavia scored 19 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out six assists to lead Wake Forest in a 92-61 rout of Kennesaw State on Tuesday night, its fifth straight win to start the season.

Wake Forest held a 45-32 advantage at intermission and outscored the Owls 47-29 over the final 20 minutes.

The Demon Deacons shot 56% from the field (32 of 57), knocking down 10 of 25 shots from beyond the arc, and out-rebounded Kennesaw State 42-25. Kennesaw State (2-4) hit 23 of 61 shots from the floor (38%), including 7 of 23 from long range.

Isaiah Mucius hit four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points for the Demon Deacons and Alondes Williams contributed 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Kasen Jennings came off the Kennesaw State bench to score 19 points, knocking down 4 of 6 3-pointers. Chris Youngblood added 12 points and Spencer Rodgers grabbed nine rebounds.

Appalachian State 57, Akron 45

ESTERO, Fla. — Michael Almonacy registered 18 points and six rebounds as Appalachian State beat Akron 57-45 in the Gulf Coast Showcase on Tuesday.

Donovan Gregory had 14 points for Appalachian State (3-3). Adrian Delph added 11 points and six rebounds.

Enrique Freeman had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Zips (2-3).

NC Central 110, Warren Wilson 32

DURHAM — Alex Caldwell had 15 points to lead six North Carolina Central players in double figures as the Eagles easily defeated Warren Wilson 110-32 on Tuesday night.

Randy Miller Jr. and Dontavius King added 14 points apiece for the Eagles. Kris Monroe and Cameron Butler chipped in 11 points each.

Caldwell made 5 of 6 3-pointers. Monroe also had eight rebounds.

Demarco Jackson had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Owls. Adonis King added 10 points.

Drexel 67, Charlotte 55

NASSAU, Bahamas — Camren Wynter scored 20 points and James Butler had 17 points and 16 rebounds as Drexel defeated Charlotte 67-55 on Tuesday. Xavier Bell added 11 points for Drexel (3-2).

Jahmir Young had 20 points for the 49ers (3-2).
