DENNARD: Kamala Harris should skip North Carolina and go to the border instead

Vice President Kamala Harris is in North Carolina today, touting the Biden-Harris administration’s flawed economic policies. Don’t be fooled by her partisan photo-op: Kamala Harris and Joe Biden are failing every test throughout their first months in office. Their failures aren’t just limited to the economy (though I’ll get into that in a minute). They are failing at our southern border. They are failing our kids by not following the science on school re-openings. They are failing North Carolinians, and they should be held accountable.

Americans here in North Carolina and nationwide have suffered through months of economically devastating lockdowns. Governor Roy Cooper eagerly joined his fellow Democrats in unilaterally enforcing some of the harsh restrictions for North Carolina families and businesses; at one point, Cooper’s lockdowns were among the very strictest in America.

Now—after crucial Republican-led economic relief like the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)–we are finally starting to win the fight against COVID-19. We also have President Trump to thank for Operation Warp Speed, his groundbreaking vaccine development program the Biden-Harris team actively undermined on the campaign trail. President Trump’s innovative, solutions-based incentivization of the private sector has gotten shots into arms and set our economy back on track. But Kamala Harris and Joe Biden are doing everything in their power to slow down any momentum. Just as we are starting to recover from Democrat-led lockdowns, Harris and Biden are proposing job-killing tax increases to fund a host of partisan left-wing political objectives. It’s illogical, unacceptable, and reeks of cynical political opportunism. It is almost offensive to see Kamala Harris advocating for her economic agenda in North Carolina as she works overtime to kill any newfound economic progress here in the Tar Heel State.

This is what Biden, Harris, Cooper, and their fellow Democrats do: create problems that Republicans then have to fix. When lockdowns, especially those in Democrat-run states, hurt our small businesses, it was Republicans stepping up to the plate with the Paycheck Protection Program – which saved over 1.2 million North Carolina jobs. When it became clear that only a vaccine could get life back to normal, President Trump’s Republican administration had to step up and deliver Operation Warp Speed. Now, Democrats want higher taxes that will undo any kind of economic comeback.

If you don’t believe the Democrats’ capacity to destroy the livelihoods of hardworking Americans, go talk to some Georgians. Biden, Harris, and the left successfully bullied Atlanta out of $100 million when they turned their cancel culture tactics on Major League Baseball, forcing them to withdraw the All-Star Game from Atlanta. Local businesses, many of them black-owned, are reeling from the economic devastation. We don’t want North Carolina to suffer from that same anti-small business, anti-worker agenda.

Here’s a rhetorical question for Vice President Harris: instead of coming to North Carolina to try and sell your bad bill of goods, why don’t you go to the border? After all, Harris has been Biden’s border crisis manager for over three weeks now (although she now claims it’s not her job, as a blame game rages in the White House). In her time as “border czar,” Harris has held zero press conferences and completed zero trips to our southern border. Meanwhile, unaccompanied children are being thrown over walls and packed together by the thousands in cages. Cartels, always eager to capitalize on human suffering, are profiting off of Biden and Harris’s feckless policies, and expanding their deadly footprint in North Carolina.

North Carolinians don’t want to hear talking points from Kamala Harris as she schemes with Joe Biden to raise their taxes and hurt small businesses. She ought to skip this photo-op in the Tar Heel State and take a trip to address the clear crisis on our border instead.
