RALEIGH – The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather alert for the state on Thursday.
A storm system making its way across the south is could produce an outbreak of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms over much of Mississippi, Alabama, eastern and northern Louisiana, Arkansas, southwest Tennessee, and far western Georgia before arriving in the North and South Carolina on Thursday.
NWS warns of tornadoes, scattered damaging winds, some hurricane force, and scattered large hail.
“Make sure that you have a way to receive watches and warnings (NOAA Weather Radio, FEMA/Red Cross weather app, etc.) and know where the safest place is in your house if you’re under a tornado warning (an interior room or closet away from outer walls and windows),” the NWS says.
