RALEIGH – Gov. Roy Cooper is expected to announce a daily curfew from 10:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. at today’s COVID-19 media availability, sources tell North State Journal. An email to Gov. Cooper’s press office seeking comment has not received a reply.

Sources indicate the restrictions will shut down activity with exceptions for essential businesses, health care needs, and other essential functions.

The order will also extend a prohibition on the sale of alcohol to begin at 9:00 p.m. instead of the current restriction, which is 11:00 p.m.

What the anticipated order means for restaurants and other industries is unknown at this time.

NSJ will continue to follow this developing story. Cooper’s press conference begins at 3 p.m. today.
