College Basketball Roundup: Wright leads High Point to first win

East Carolina and UNC Asheville each won against winless opponents

HIGH POINT — John-Michael Wright scored 23 points and Lydell Elmore added 21 points as High Point defeated North Florida 85-74 on Saturday.

Emmanuel Izunabor added 15 points for High Point (1-2).

Josh Endicott had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Ospreys (0-5). Emmanuel Adedoyin and Jose Placer had 12 points apiece.

East Carolina 63, Radford 50

GREENVILLE — Jayden Gardner had 20 points and eight rebounds as East Carolina topped Radford 63-50 on Saturday.

Noah Farrakhan had 11 points for East Carolina (3-0).

Fah’Mir Ali and Quinton Morton-Robertson each had nine points for the Highlanders (0-4).

UNC Asheville 77, South Carolina State 56

ASHEVILLE — Tajion Jones had 24 points as UNC Asheville rolled past South Carolina State 77-56 on Saturday.

Evan Clayborne added a career-high 15 points plus three blocks for UNC Asheville (1-2). Trent Stephney added six assists.

Floyd Rideau Jr. had 15 points for South Carolina State (0-4) and Themus Fulks added 12 points and six assists.
