Stanford pulls away from NC A&T; App State beats NC Wesleyan

CULLOWHEE — Mason Faulkner sank a 3-pointer with 0.6 seconds left in overtime as Western Carolina narrowly beat Tennessee Tech 76-75 on Sunday.

Faulkner hit 4 of 6 3-pointers and finished with 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Xavier Cork had 14 points and three blocks for Western Carolina (5-1). Travion McCray added 12 points and Tyler Harris had six points and 10 rebounds.

Jr. Clay had 20 points for the Golden Eagles (0-5). Keishawn Davidson added 18 points and Tujautae Williams had six rebounds.

Stanford 78, NC A&T 46

GREENSBORO — Oscar da Silva scored a season-high 26 points and Stanford pulled away in the second half on Sunday for a 78-46 win over North Carolina A&T.

While playing its first three games against Power 5 opponents in Asheville, the Cardinal added a fourth contest in the state, making their first visit to a historical black college.

Stanford (2-2) had 11 different players score and 15 see action. Ziaire Williams contributed a career-high 10 rebounds.

The Cardinal led 31-23 at the half as both teams had trouble finding the range. However, Stanford improved from 33% in the first half to 49% in the second to pull away.

The Cardinal raced to a 20-3 lead before the Aggies scrapped back. But Stanford pushed the lead to 25 barely five minutes into the second half.

North Carolina A&T (2-4) shot 26% in the first half and 31% in the second, when the Aggies went 1 of 13 from 3-point range, finishing 4 of 25 from distance.

Harry Morrice came off the bench to score 10 points to lead the Aggies.

Appalachian State 81, North Carolina Wesleyan 57

BOONE — CJ Huntley had 18 points and Kendall Lewis came off the bench to score 17 points and grab six rebounds to lead Appalachian State to an 81-57 win over North Carolina Wesleyan. The Mountaineers (3-1) made 9 of 24 3-pointers, led by Huntley’s 4-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc.

Isaiah Lewis had 21 points for North Carolina Wesleyan, who will play at UNC Greensboro on Friday. App State hosts Charlotte on Friday before playing at No. 13 Tennessee on Dec. 15.
