LUMBERTON — Republican Associate Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby added 56 votes to his margin over appointed Democratic Chief Justice Cheri Beasley in Robeson County following the first tabulation of votes not previously reported in the county.

During Monday’s Robeson County Board of Elections meeting, Director Tina Bledsoe said a memory card was not added to tallies from the town of Pembroke.

Bledsoe said that the town added a second one-stop early voting location in the town, which represented the 1,951 votes outstanding.

In addition, approximately 700 provisional votes remain to be counted.
