Lee wins rematch for N.C. Senate seat

Michael Lee won back the N.C. Senate seat in New Hanover County in the 2020 general election

RALEIGH – Former state Sen. Michael Lee has reclaimed the seat he lost to Democrat Harper Peterson in 2018 by just 231 votes.

Lee led election night results by less than 1,500 votes with absentee and provisional ballots left to count.

A New Hanover County board of elections meeting to count those ballots and canvass the results on Friday, Nov. 13 gave Lee the advantage by 1,268 votes.

The win gives N.C. Senate Republicans a 28-22 advantage in the upcoming session.
