RALEIGH – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) will begin advertising in the race between Gov. Roy Cooper and Lt. Gov. Dan Forest this week in what is expected to be a boost for Forest’s campaign.

The RGA, who say their mission is electing and supporting Republican governors, is expected to launch a multi-million broadcast television campaign in the Charlotte and Raleigh television markets under the RGA’s Right Direction PAC.

Earlier this year, RGA executive director Dave Rexrode said of Forest, “Lt. Gov. Forest has a positive vision for the future that reflects North Carolina values, coupled with a proven track record of success in statewide elections. The RGA stands ready to support Dan Forest as he fights to bring principled, solution-oriented leadership to the governor’s office.”

The Forest campaign is holding a digital rally and telethon this Sunday, calling the event the first of its kind in North Carolina political history. The event will feature Forest along with Governors Henry McMaster (SC), Kristi Noem (SD), Greg Abbott (TX), Doug Ducey (AZ) and former Governors Nikki Haley and Scott Walker.
