Crown, Panthers colors highlight name, crest reveal for Charlotte FC

The team announced last week it would delay its entry into the league by a year until 2022

While the Major League Soccer will be waiting until 2022 for its Charlotte expansion franchise to begin play, the team revealed Wednesday that it will be known as Charlotte FC.

The team’s crest includes a crown — a nod to Charlotte being the Queen City — and is teal and black, which matches the team colors of owner David Tepper’s Carolina Panthers. Both teams will play in Bank of America Stadium.

MLS announced last week that it was delaying the start dates for Charlotte, along with two other expansion franchises, by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
