BOILINGS SPRINGS — The Hampton-Gardner-Webb men’s basketball game was suspended at halftime on Monday night because of a mechanical malfunction of one of the shot clocks.
The game is tentatively rescheduled for Feb. 24 with current stats and fouls in place. The Bulldogs lead 39-31.
Jose Perez scored 19 first-half points for Gardner-Webb (6-11, 2-3 Big South Conference), while Ben Stanley led Hampton (8-10, 3-2) with 16 points.
Graham, Drake lead Presbyterian past Campbell
CLINTON, S.C. — Zeb Graham scored a season-high 22 points as Presbyterian topped Campbell 85-79 on Monday night.
Ben Drake added 20 points and Cory Hightower contributed 18 for Presbyterian (8-11, 5-1 Big South Conference). Chris Martin added 10 points.
Jordan Whitfield scored a career-high 20 points for the Fighting Camels (11-8, 2-5). Cedric Henderson Jr. added 19 points. Cory Gensler had 11 points and six rebounds.
Presbyterian plays Charleston Southern on the road on Thursday. Campbell faces Hampton on the road on Thursday.
Wade scores 23 to lift Old Dominion past Charlotte
NORFOLK, Va. — Jason Wade had a career-high 23 points as Old Dominion narrowly beat Charlotte 66-62 on Monday.
Kalu Ezikpe’s fast-break dunk with nine seconds remaining sealed it for the Monarchs.
A.J. Oliver II had 12 points for Old Dominion (7-12, 3-3 Conference USA). Malik Curry added 11 points, and Aaron Carver had seven points and 15 rebounds.
Drew Edwards had 18 points for the 49ers (10-7, 4-2). Jordan Shepherd added 15 points and six assists, and Jahmir Young had 11 points and six rebounds.
The Monarchs evened the season series against the 49ers with the win. Charlotte defeated Old Dominion 53-47 on Jan. 11. Old Dominion faces Florida International at home on Thursday. Charlotte matches up against Florida Atlantic at home on Thursday.
Wright scores 24, helps High Point hold off SC-Upstate
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — John-Michael Wright had 24 points, the final four coming from the free throw line in thei final minute-and-a-half, as High Point topped South Carolina Upstate 70-62 on Monday night.
SC-Upstate got within two points, 59-57 with 4:12 left in the game and Bryson Mozone hit two 3-pointers, the second with :22 remaining to get the Spartans within four points after Wright hit a pair from the line to give High Point a seven-point advantage. Wright added two more with :09 left to put the game out of reach.
Denny Slay II had 17 points for High Point (5-14, 2-4 Big South Conference). Rob Peterson III added 12 rebounds.
Everette Hammond had 20 points for the Spartans (7-12, 2-4). Tommy Bruner added 16 points and Mozone added 11.
High Point takes on Gardner-Webb at home on Thursday. South Carolina Upstate plays Winthrop on the road on Thursday.
Baker scores 19, UNC Asheville beats Longwood
FARMVILLE, Va. — DeVon Baker posted 19 points as UNC Asheville beat Longwood 71-66 on Monday night.
Coty Jude had 14 points for UNC Asheville (8-9, 2-4 Big South Conference). Lavar Batts Jr. added 12 points and LJ Thorpe had 11 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
Tajion Jones, who led the Bulldogs in scoring coming into the matchup with 16 points per game, scored six points. He was 0 of 4 from behind the arc.
Shabooty Phillips had 16 points and six rebounds for the Lancers (6-14, 1-6), who have now lost four games in a row. JaShaun Smith added 13 points and DeShaun Wade had 12 points and six rebounds.
UNC Asheville plays Radford at home on Thursday. Longwood matches up against High Point on the road on Saturday.
Langley scores 22 to lead NC A&T over Morgan St.
BALTIMORE — Kameron Langley had a career-high 22 points plus 12 assists as North Carolina A&T topped Morgan State 76-70 on Monday night.
Andre Jackson had 15 points for the Aggies (8-12, 4-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Ronald Jackson added 12 points and 18 rebounds and Devin Haygood had three blocks.
Stanley Davis had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Bears (9-12, 3-3). Troy Baxter added 14 points and five blocks and Kyson Rawls had 12 points.
NC A&T faces Bethune-Cookman at home on Saturday. Morgan State matches up against Coppin State on the road on Saturday.
Florida A&M tops NC Central
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Rod Melton Jr. posted 17 points and seven rebounds as Florida A&M defeated NC Central 66-57 on Monday to remain unbeaten at home.
Nasir Core had 17 points for Florida A&M (5-12, 3-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). MJ Randolph added 12 points and nine rebounds.
C.J. Keyser had 13 points and six rebounds for the Eagles (7-12, 3-2). Deven Palmer added 12 points. Jibri Blount had 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Rattlers leveled the season series against the Eagles with the win. NC Central defeated Florida A&M 61-45 on Jan. 4.
Florida A&M takes on Howard on the road on Saturday. NC Central matches up against Delaware State at home on Saturday.
