JONESBORO, Ark. — Justin Forrest had 26 points as Appalachian State defeated Arkansas State 71-64 on Thursday night.

Forrest made 8 of 10 foul shots.

Hunter Seacat had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Appalachian State (12-10, 6-5 Sun Belt Conference). Adrian Delph added 12 points. Isaac Johnson had five assists.

Caleb Fields had 14 points and seven assists for the Red Wolves (15-8, 7-5). Malik Brevard added 10 points and seven rebounds. Jerry Johnson had 10 points.

The Mountaineers improve to 2-0 against the Red Wolves this season. Appalachian State defeated Arkansas State 83-80 on Jan. 16. Appalachian State faces Arkansas-Little Rock on the road on Saturday. Arkansas State faces Coastal Carolina at home on Saturday.

Wright’s 30 lifts High Point past Campbell

BUIES CREEK — John-Michael Wright scored 30 points and drained a go-ahead 3-pointer with three minutes to go as High Point edged Campbell 62-57 on Thursday night.

Wright, a freshman, was 11-for-19 shooting, including a career-best 8-for-11 from behind the arc. He added six rebounds and had nearly half of High Point’s 23 made field goals. Jamal Wright added 10 points for the Panthers (6-16, 3-6 Big South Conference), who ended a two-game slide.

Jordan Whitfield had 12 points to lead the Fighting Camels (11-10, 2-7). Cory Gensler added 10 points. Ja’Cor Nelson grabbed six rebounds. Campbell, which has lost its last three, was held to 38% shooting and was outrebounded 37-30.

High Point plays Hampton at home next Thursday. Campbell faces South Carolina Upstate on the road on Saturday.

Jean propels Louisiana Tech over Charlotte

RUSTON, La. — Derric Jean had 16 points and six assists as Louisiana Tech defeated Charlotte 72-59 on Thursday night.

Jean made 5 of 9 shots from the floor, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range, for the 49ers (17-5, 8-2 Conference USA). DaQuan Bracey had 15 points, while Amorie Archibald scored 14. Mubarak Muhammed had 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting.

Cooper Robb had 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting off the bench to lead Charlotte (12-8, 6-3). Malik Martin had 11 points and reserve Brice Williams scored 10.

Louisiana Tech shot 56% overall and 59% from beyond the arc (13 of 22). Charlotte hit 46% from the floor and 42% from distance (11 of 26). The two teams took just eight free throws each on the night.

Sanders carries Towson past UNCW

TOWSON, Md. — Nakye Sanders tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds to lift Towson to a 77-66 win over UNC Wilmington on Thursday night, the Tigers’ seventh consecutive victory.

Brian Fobbs had 14 points for Towson (13-9, 7-3 Colonial Athletic Conference). Juwan Gray added 10 points. Jason Gibson had six assists.

Allen Betrand, who was second on the Tigers in scoring coming into the contest with 14 points per game, shot only 20 percent in the game (1 of 5).

Jaylen Sims had 16 points for the Seahawks (7-16, 2-8). Marten Linssen added 12 points and seven rebounds. Ty Gadsden had 11 points.

The Tigers improve to 2-0 against the Seahawks for the season. Towson defeated UNC Wilmington 67-60 on Jan. 4. Towson plays College of Charleston at home on Saturday. UNC Wilmington matches up against James Madison on the road on Saturday.

Hofstra’s 15 3-pointers leads to rout over Elon

ELON — Eli Pemberton had 26 points as Hofstra routed Elon 86-63 on Thursday night.

Desure Buie had 18 points and 11 assists for Hofstra (16-7, 7-3 Colonial Athletic Conference). Isaac Kante added 16 points and Jalen Ray had 14 as Hofstra hit a season-high 15 3-pointers.

Marcus Sheffield II had 21 points for the Phoenix (6-17, 2-8). Hunter Woods added 16 points and Chuck Hannah had seven rebounds.

The Pride improve to 2-0 against the Phoenix this season. Hofstra defeated Elon 102-75 on Jan. 4. Hofstra matches up against William & Mary on the road on Saturday. Elon faces Northeastern at home on Saturday.

Perez leads Gardner-Webb past UNC Asheville

ASHEVILLE — Jose Perez had 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists to help Gardner-Webb beat UNC Asheville 70-56 on Thursday night.

Jaheam Cornwall and Eric Jamison Jr. each added 14 points for Gardner-Webb (8-12, 4-4 Big South), which has won four straight games in the series. Kareem Reid had 11 points.

Cornwall had four of Gardner-Webb’s 10 3-pointers and Perez made all three of his. UNC Asheville was just 3 of 16 from 3-point range and shot 42.6% overall.

LJ Thorpe scored 18 points and DeVon Baker added 15 for UNC Asheville (9-11, 3-6), which finished a stretch of five games in 10 days. Tajion Jones, fifth in the league in scoring at 16.1 points per game, was held to four points on 2-of-8 shooting.
