Five-star center Armando Bacot revealed Thursday in a video announcement that he has selected North Carolina as the destination for his college career.

Bacot chose the Tar Heels over Tobacco Road rival Duke. He is rated as the No. 21 recruit in the 2019 ESPN 100.

The 6-foot-10 Bacot posted his video announcement on Twitter. Various highlights were displayed before he emerged out of the shadows wearing a Tar Heel blue shirt with the words “Chapel Hill.”

“Go Heels. Hey,” Bacot said.

Bacot, who is from Richmond, Va., attends IMG Academy in Florida. He had a strong summer that included winning MVP honors at the Nike Peach Jam in South Carolina in July.

Other schools strongly considered by Bacot were Oklahoma State, Georgia and Virginia Commonwealth.

Bacot joins four-star guard Jeremiah Francis as highly regarded prep seniors who have committed to North Carolina.
