Freshman guard Trevon Duval became Duke’s second one-and-done player this season Wednesday with his announcement that he will join teammate Marvin Bagley III in the NBA draft.

Duval is the 14th Blue Devil to declare for the draft after just one college season. Fellow freshmen Wendell Carter and Gary Trent Jr. are expected to add their names to the list within the next few days.

Of the previous 12 Duke one-and-dones, 11 have been first-round selections with nine lottery picks.

Duval led Duke with 207 assists, fourth all-time by a Duke freshman. His average of 5.6 assists per game ranked third in the ACC, and is tied for the third-best mark in a season by a Duke freshman. He averaged 10.3 points, reaching double figures 19 times, including a career-high 22 against Portland State.

“We wish Trevon the very best,” Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement. “He showed unbelievable improvement, especially at the end of the year. His athleticism and his ability to guard at the next level will help him. We know that great things will happen for Trevon as he embarks on his pro career and will be watching and supporting him every step of the way.”

In addition to Duval, North Carolina natives Jerome Robinson and Ky Bowman of Boston College also announced their intention to enter the draft. The Eagles stars, who formed one of the ACC’s best backcourts last season, will not hire agents, leaving open the option of returning to school.

Robinson, from Raleigh’s Broughton High School, led the ACC in scoring at 20.7 points per game while earning first-team all-conference honors. Bowman, from Havelock, averaged 17.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
