Back from injury, Lionel Richie to tour with Mariah Carey

Lionel
Richie is ready to hit the road with Mariah Carey for his “All the
Hits” North American tour after a knee injury in March forced him to
postpone the venture. Richie and Carey are joining forces for the first
time on tour, kicking off on July 21 in Oakland, California.

Box Office: ‘Wonder Woman’ tops “The Mummy”

Different weekend, similar story: “Wonder Woman” is box
office royalty. The Warner Bros. and DC Comics standalone will
have earned $57.2 million from 4,165 theaters by the end of its
second weekend, putting it solidly in first place. That’s only a
45 percent drop from its opening weekend, giving the film an estimated
$205 million domestically in two weekends. While Universal may not be
supremely enthused by how “The Mummy” is opening in North
America, the studio’s latest is posting impressive numbers
overseas, especially in China. From 63 territories, the film is expected to earn $141.8
million, which, combined with the North American take of $32.2
million, would give Universal’s latest a worldwide opening of
$174 million.

for $190,373 on Sunday, setting a record for game-used shoes.
The Converse shoes were said to be used by the NBA legend in the
gold medal game against Spain in the 1984 Olympics, according to
ESPN.

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s ex-boyfriend in court on domestic
battery charge

The man who last year was ordered to pay $36 million for the
wrongful death of Whitney Houston’s daughter appeared in a
Florida court on Sunday for a bail hearing after his arrest on
charges of punching his current girlfriend. Nick Gordon, 28, had
bail set at $15,500 and was required to wear a GPS monitor by a
judge at the Circuit Court of Seminole County in Sanford,
according to video of the hearing posted online by WKMG-TV.

Ex “Top Gear” presenter Hammond in hospital after crash

Former “Top Gear” presenter Richard Hammond was airlifted to
hospital in Switzerland on Saturday following a dramatic car
crash while filming for his new show, but his injuries were not
serious, a spokesman said. Hammond, 47, was driving an electric
sports car during filming for “The Grand Tour” when the crash
happened, the spokesman for the show said.

Delta, Bank of America pull sponsorship of ‘Julius Caesar’
production over Trump-like portrayal

Delta Air Lines Inc and Bank of America Corp
pulled financial support on Sunday for the Shakespeare in the
Park production of “Julius Caesar” in New York over its
portrayal of the assassinated ancient Roman leader that
resembles U.S. President Donald Trump. The contemporary staging
of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, by the nonprofit Public
Theater, portrays Caesar as a powerful, blond-haired man wearing
a business suit with an American flag pin, while his wife,
Calpurnia, has a Slavic accent and dresses in designer fashions.

Katy Perry bids to end bad blood with Taylor Swift, gets no
response

Katy Perry is ready to bury the hatchet on her long-running
feud with pop rival Taylor Swift, calling her a “fantastic
songwriter” and saying she thinks both can be examples of strong
women in the music industry. But Swift, 27, had yet to respond
to the olive branch on Sunday and end the bad blood between two
of pop music’s biggest female singers.

‘Dear Evan Hansen,’ Bette Midler, ‘Oslo’ win big at
Broadway’s Tony Awards

“Dear Evan Hansen,” the teen-angst driven musical about a
high school outsider, won the top prize at Sunday’s Tony Awards,
Broadway highest honors, while J.T. Rogers’ Mideast peace accord
drama “Oslo” was named best play. The surprise hit musical won a
total of six Tonys, including best musical actor for 23 year-old
newcomer Ben Platt, featured actress Rachel Bay Jones, as well
as best book, score and orchestrations.
