RALEIGH — When one door closes, another opens.Following the unfortunate news that Terry Henderson was denied a sixth year with NC State, former UNCW guard C.J. Bryce committed to the Wolfpack. Bryce shared the news with several news sources, including Pack Pride and Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
CJ Bryce informed us that he has committed to NC State. Big pickup for the Wolfpack. Pack Pride (@PackPride) May 27, 2017
UNC Wilmington transfer C.J. Bryce tells me he's committed to NC State. Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) May 27, 2017Bryce won’t be eligible for the Pack during the fall for a roster that could still use more guard help. However, he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining starting during the 2018-19 season. The former Seahawk guard followed head coach Kevin Keatts from Wilmington to Raleigh after the two-time CAA Coach of the Year took the position at NC State. In two years under Keatts, Bryce progressed from 10.1 points and 0.8 assists per game as a freshman to 17.4 ppg and 3.0 assists as a sophomore.
C.J. Bryce on why he committed to NC State and will follow Kevin Keatts from UNC Wilmington: “Loyalty and family.” Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanESPN) May 27, 2017While NC State is planning for a season without Henderson in 2017-18, the following year’s roster looks even more depleted. Both Al Freeman and Sam Hunt will have to exit the program along with Abdul-Malik Abu and Lennard Freeman.Suffice to say, having Bryce on the roster gives Keatts not only a player who can score, but someone he can depend on throughout the season. Now the aim turns toward Utah transfer Devon Daniels, another guard Keatts hopes to land when he announces his decision later Saturday.
