The Queens and Lincoln Memorial basketball teams played four times this season. Each won twice.After splitting two regular season matchups, the top-seeded Royals came out on top nine days ago to earn the South Atlantic Conference championship. Tuesday, though, the Railsplitters got their revenge in the only game that really matters. Queens (30-4) went cold from both the floor and the free throw line in the second half and allowed its conference rival to score 42 points in the paint in an 82-68 loss at Charlotte’s Levine Center that prevented it from advancing to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II tournament. The Royals led 44-42 with 10:43 remaining before LMC (29-5) scored eight straight points to open up a lead it would never relinquish. Mike Davis led Queens with 18 points. Todd Withers had 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocks while Ike Agusi had 15 points for the Royals, who went just 9 of 27 from beyond the 3-point line and missed 14 of its 31 free throw attempts to help short-circuit any comeback attempt. DeShawn patterson led LMC with 16 points.
