Wake Forest sophomore John Collins announced Wednesday that he will enter the NBA Draft. Collins, a 6-10 power forward from West Palm Beach, Florida, will not hire an agent. That decision allows him to go through the evaluation process, get feedback on his draft readiness from NBA organizations, and still return to school. “After a lot of thought, I have decided to declare for the NBA Draft
but not hire an agent,” Collins said in a statement from the school. “This allows me the opportunity to
be evaluated by teams over the next few weeks and gather information
from them. I want to make an informed decision about what is best for my
future, whether that is turning pro at this time or returning to Wake
Forest for my junior season.”Collins averaged 19.2 points and 9.8 rebounds this season, earning first-team All-ACC honors. He led the league in field goal percentage, and his 12 straight 20-point games were the most since NC State’s T.J. Warren in 2014. Collins also earned Most-Improved Player honors in the ACC.Underclassmen who have not hired an agent have until 10 days after the close of the NBA Combine to withdraw their name and return to school. That sets this year’s deadline for Collins at May 24.
