North Carolina and Appalachian State have agreed to a three-game football series, with two of the games being played in Chapel Hill and one in Boone. The deal was first reported last week, but was made official with an announcement Monday. The Mountaineers will visit Kenan Stadium on Sept. 21, 2019, with the Tar Heels making their first ever visit to Kidd Brewer Stadium for a Sept. 3 date in 2022. The cross-state rivals will then meet again in Chapel Hill on Sept. 9, 2023. UNC and ASU have only met once previously on the football field, with the Tar Heels winning 56-6 in Chapel Hill on Sept. 21, 1940. The Mountaineers, who will begin its third season as an FBS member next fall, have already attracted one ACC opponent to Boone — having played Miami there last season. It is scheduled to host Wake Forest next fall. ASU also recently entered into a four-game deal with East Carolina, a series that will include a game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte along with two in Greenville and one in Boone.
