North Carolina’s entire starting backfield and most of its receiving corps heads up a delegation of 14 players from North Carolina colleges invited to particulate in the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine, scheduled for Feb. 28-March 6 in Indianapolis. In addition to quarterback Mitch Trubisky — who is expected to be one of the first, if not the first at his position selected in this year’s draft — the Tar Heels offense will represented by wide receivers Mack Hollins, Bug Howard and Ryan Switzer, along with running backs Elijah Hood and T.J. Logan. Defensive tackle Nazair Jones, who like Trubisky and Hood left UNC after his junior season, has also been invited to the Combine. Other than the Tar Heels, whose seven players make up half the in-state contingent heading to Indy, NC State is the only other local school to receive multiple invitations. The Wolfpack will be represented by running back Matt Dayes, safety Josh Jones and cornerback Jack Tocho. ECU wide receiver Zay Jones, coming off a standout performance at the Senior Bowl, Wake Forest linebacker Marquel Lee, NC A&T running back Tarik Cohen and Charlotte defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi are the other players with North Carolina schools chosen to participate in the Combine. Often referred to as the “Underwear Olympics,” the Combine gives draft eligible players the opportunity to perform numerous physical drills, along with a battery of medical tests and personal interviews under the watchful eye of all 32 NFL teams in hopes of improving their professional football possibilities. Three hundred thirty players were invited to this year’s event. Here is list of invited players from North Carolina schools:UNC (7)WR Mack HollinsRB Elijah HoodWR Bug HowardDT Nazair JonesRB T.J.
