Deke Adams is leaving East Carolina, where he spent the past season as the Pirates’ defensive line coach, to be reunited with coach Larry Fedora at North Carolina, according to sources at both schools. Adams served three seasons under Fedora at Southern Mississippi before coming to Chapel Hill with him in 2012. He then left to become defensive line coach at South Carolina, where he stayed until being hired last year by new ECU coach Scottie Montgomery. He returns to UNC to fill the position left vacant when Tray Scott left to take a similar position at Ole Miss on Dec. 30.Fedora also moved quickly to fill another opening his staff, which came about Monday when defensive backs coach Charlton Warren announced that he was leaving to become a member of Butch Jones’ staff at Tennessee. Warren’s replacement is Terry Joseph, who spent the past three seasons coaching defensive backs at Texas A&M. In other coaching staff movement, ECU announced the hiring of Brandon Lynch as its new defensive backs coach. The former NFL safety who won a Super Bowl ring as a member of the Indianapolis Colts in 2007 and spent the past two seasons coaching the secondary at Northern Iowa, replaces the recently retired Rick Smith with the Pirates.
