GOLDSBORO – Police say that the Republican party headquarters in Wayne County was broken into and vandalized this week. The break in was reported on Thursday when it was discovered that intruders kicked in the door and wrote obscenities on a mural of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan. Brent Heath, chairman of the Wayne County Republican Party estimates there to be between $1,000 and $1,500 in damage. In October, the Orange County GOP office was firebombed and spray painted with threats and pellet gun shots were fired into the Pamlico County Republican headquarters in two separate incidents. “There seems to be a pattern, but who knows really,” said Heath. Police are still investigating and the GOP reports that no one was injured in the break-in.
