North Carolina’s next basketball game will be on Saturday against Kentucky in Las Vegas as part of the CBS Sports Classic. It’s a high-profile early season event that will continue for at least the next three years. Organizers of the Classic, which also involves UCLA and Ohio State, announced Tuesday that they have renewed the rotating doubleheaders through 2019. The 2017 edition will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23 in New Orleans with UNC playing Ohio State and Kentucky facing UCLA. Dates and locations for the 2018-19 events will be announced at a later date. The Tar Heels are scheduled to play Kentucky again in 2018 and UCLA in 2019. Between them, UNC, Kentucky, Ohio State and UCLA have won 25 NCAA Championships and made 175 NCAA Tournament appearances. Since 2006, each team has appeared in at least two Final Fours, while each of the four has played in at least one national championship game.They are among college basketball’s all-time winningest programs, combining for more than 7,700 victories.
