The UNC Charlotte and Florida Atlantic football game set for Saturday has been rescheduled as a result of Hurricane Matthew’s impending arrival on the east coast Thursday evening/Friday morning, the school announced on Thursday. The game was set to be played in Boca Raton on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. But the path of Matthew makes arriving for the game on Friday and playing it on Saturday immensely dangerous. “Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is in the path of Hurricane Matthew,” said Pat Chun, vice president and director of athletics. “Supporting our community, state and region is the current focus of FAU Athletics. We thank our friends at Charlotte for their understanding and assistance.”The current plan is to play the game on Sunday, Oct. 9, at noon E.T., but a “final determination of the status of the game will not be made until the storm system has passed through the Boca Raton area and a post-storm assessment has been made.”Here is the latest path for Matthew from the National Hurricane Center as of 11 a.m. ET on Thursday.11am Advisory for Hurricane #MATTHEW pic.twitter.com/1xmFgThDCw Brad Panovich (@wxbrad) October 6, 2016
