Political vet switches lobbying team

RALEIGH — Public affairs firm McGuireWoods Consulting announced Thursday that political veteran Tommy Sevier has joined the firm as a senior vice president in the its government relations team.”We are very excited to have Tommy join McGuireWoods Consulting,” said Harry Kaplan, senior vice president and director of North Carolina State Government Relations team. “We welcome the breadth and depth of state and federal public affairs and government relations experience he brings to our team.”Sevier was formerly director of state public affairs for Moore & Van Allen Public Affairs, in which he was responsible for managing the firm’s Raleigh office where he represented clients at both the state and federal level.In previous lobbying roles at the federal level, Sevier represented the North Carolina Farm Bureau and National Pork Producers Council on capitol hill. He also served as chief of staff for former congressman Robin Hayes (R-NC), for six years while in Washington D.C. Hayes is currently chairman of the North Carolina Republican PartySevier’s experience also includes serving as deputy chief of staff for policy for North Carolina President Pro Tempore Phil Berger (R-Eden).
