RALEIGH — N.C. House District Representative Chris Millis (R-Pender) announced today that he is resigning the N.C. House of Representatives seat that he has held since 2013. In a statement, the three-term Republican said, “It has always been my desire to effectively serve and then step away at the proper time. For me and my family, now is that time.”
District 16 encompasses all of Pender County and part of Onslow County. The County GOP committees will determine the replacement for Millis until a newly elected member is seated following the 2018 election. Under the proposed House redistricting map, District 16 will still encompass all of Pender County. But, the new map removes Onslow County and adds part of Columbus County.
Millis chairs the House Regulatory Reform Committee and the House Select Committee on North Carolina River Quality.
